Stairway to Heaven was the makeout song at the end of every high school party. It worked well for this purpose since it was so long. In contrast, the length of those stairs probably convinced many to take the paved road heading in the other direction.

Yeah, well, to me it always signaled, Oh look, I'm not making out again.
Which doesn't mean I don't like the song. I actually do.
In my crowd this song had any entirely different meaning...more along the lines of your first two hits... er I'm mean songs.
I think everyone that grew up in the 70s listened to this song so much that everyone who grew up in the late '90s and in to the '00s was sick of it. But it's nice to know that everyone really enjoyed it back in the day.

That's probably my all-time favourite song. The tune is pretty haunting...and of course there are the make-out memories as well. LOL!
