Harry Manx

Harry Manx can make a banjo sound like a sitar. Perhaps less surprisingly, he also makes the mohan veena sound like a sitar (to me, every Indian stringed instrument sounds like a sitar). Here he’s playing a “bluesier” piece, but if you want to sample his “not-a-sitar-but-sounds-sitarish” stuff, try here.

Helen,
"Bring That Thing" is awesome! It literally gave me goose bumps.
Harry Manx is new to me so THANK YOU for turning me on to him. Being from Chicago, The Blues pulsates in my veins (I could probably do an entire 365 on the blues).
I checked to see if he was touring in my neck of the woods, sadly he is not. But I'll be watching for him. They way he plays is amazing.

A big giant THANK YOU Helen, this has totally made my day!!!

AAGGHH. Damn you again, Maureen!

Lisa, I'm glad you liked it. I saw him in Kingston a couple of years ago and it was amazing to watch him pull out instrument after instrument and play them all so seemingly effortlessly. (That's where I heard him make the banjo sound like a sitar.) Plus he's a great storyteller, so if he does ever make it down your way, I'd highly recommend going to see him.

Helen, I'm so (still) addicted to this song. Wish you were still doing this blog as you turned me onto some amazing people.
