Vincent (Starry Starry Night)
Vincent Van Gogh had “two unsuitable and unhappy romances and worked unsuccessfully as a clerk.” He even managed to get fired as a preacher, because of overzealousness (how often does that happen?). With that pile of prefixes slowly crushing him, it’s no wonder he killed himself.

Two classics.
I went through a mild clinical depression some years back and was visiting Minneapolis, where I went the art museum. I stood in front of a Van Gogh painting, which, looking at the Minneapolis Institute of Art website, must have been Olive Trees. It's gorgeous, and I had a jolt of "Oh my god, he was so depressed." I'd never had quite a feeling about a painting like that before, and it felt like it took my own chemical imbalance to see it so clearly.
TMI? Never know when it's OK to tell depression stories!
That's interesting Indigo (and by the way, not too much information, at least not for me). When I looked up Olive Trees on the web I saw something vibrant and gorgeous (and I guess by implication, joyous).
Love this song.
