Money/Pink Floyd

Money is on my mind this week. That’s because I’m taking my nephews to the Cirque du Soleil in Montreal next month, and now that I realize what the adventure’s going to cost, I’m aghast. I know, as Visa reminds me, that a weekend with my nephews is priceless; but I’m beginning to wish I had chosen a less-pricey priceless experience (but then again, in 10 years who will care?).

Good song. Ticket prices are shocking. I've never seen Cirque de Soleil in person. Sewa Yoleme and I were threatening to go one night when we did our multiday tacky Disney trip together, but we just couldn't afford the time/$$ to add it. We decided we'd go some other time when I went to visit him, but I haven't been back since. Because of time, and ... money.

I've actually seen them before, and it's definitely worth it. It's really all the extra costs (train, hotel, food for 2 adolescents with gargantuan appetites) that are starting to make it difficult for me to breathe.

Your nephews will care in ten years - they will remember the trip and how much fun they had with their Aunt Helen.

True, and I'll remember too. My 10 year mantra is really about whether I'll care in 10 years that I spent such-and-such an amount. Usually (always?) the answer is "no".
