Blue Monk/Thelonius Monk

I was at a chanting workshop once, led by a woman who used to be a jazz musician in New York. Her initial reaction to chanting was that it was idiotic and boring: strings of simple sounds repeated over and over. She’s since become a chanting convert, and now thinks of jazz as “mind vomit.” If you feel the same way, you should have a large mental barf bag handy as you listen to this.

What a treat (not barfing). Sometimes I think jazz is ALL there is, really. Anyway, I got to play this on my first pass of an edit of the executive director's words to the membership. Yummy.

I should do a jazz week someday.

Mind vomit??? My guess is that a hot saxophonist rejected the woman's advances. Old favorite tune, and cool video, thanks!

Heh heh (evil laugh). I knew that mind vomit comment would incense some jazz aficionados.
